This is one aspect of my brand of Protestantism that could be improved. We have very few rituals or religious observances. I agree that ritual can interfere with true connection with God. But, it does not have to do so. And I understand that the free style of worship and focus upon individual relationship with God is a reaction to the sterile religious scene of Christianity for many centuries. Still, there are things to learn and benefits from ritual. Thanks for an interesting post. posted by: JT (reply) post date: 04.13.06 (10:46 am) Reply to: PastorDave Oh, trust me, I am nobody's example of an observant Jew! It's interesting to see how much or little I relate to things as I age, especially since I went through a period of time where I didn't think intermarriage would affect me. I feel like I'm a spiritual Jew though not an observant one. posted by: surrogate (reply) post date: 04.20.06 (4:02 am) I'm not Jewish, but I've been blessed to attend three passovers with the same family in the last four years. By the last one I was getting into the swing of things. It's a wonderful thing. posted by: mom's heart (reply) post date: 04.21.06 (5:41 am) Not Jewish either, but have attended a passover meal with friends. Truely enjoyed the experience. posted by: mom's heart (reply) post date: 04.21.06 (5:45 am) Reply to: PastorDave You should contact Light of the Messiah in Atlanta, GA. They came to my state and did a Messianic Passover Service that was open to anyone. It was awsome. I've wanted to attend another eversince. |
