Unexpected gestures of the week:

- Switch our movie channels to Showtime and TiVo a show you know I like
- Get up and feed the baby when he squalls at 3 am
- Buy tickets to take me to see the Cubs
- Tease me about making too much chicken salad -- but not in a mean way
- Don't freak out when I get the only ticket issued in the city of Chicago for using a cell phone in the car
- Load the flash drive you gave me with music you think I might enjoy

I can't even begin to describe what this week has been like. I wanted to write a post about Jacob's first baseball practice, but this week has been insanely busy and it's only going to get worse... we were all called in to a meeting yesterday to be told that mandatory overtime is back on again. *sigh*

I'll be bringing Danny to work with me on weekends again, I guess. At least it's more pleasant to work when it's quiet and my little puppy of a boy is resting his head on my knee while he watches a DVD under my desk.

Tomorrow is Jacob's first baseball game, as well as the Wrigley Field Garage Sale, so hopefully I'll have more interesting things to post over the weekend -- and a little energy with which to post them!

A ticket for using a cell phone? I have this strange need to count things, and I am sure there is a psychological term for such. Anyhow, I was counting the percentage of fellow drivers who were using their cellphones while negotiating the road. It ended up being about 40%- can you believe that? There is no way a person can be as focused upon the road while busily chatting on a phone. As I considered these other drivers, and their endangerment of me, it made me so irritated I almost dropped my cup of coffee from my left hand and my razor from my right.

Seriously, with the issuing of tickets, I think these cops can choose about any driver at random and issue a valid ticket. Speeding? Cellphone? Lane changes, signal violations, stop signs, etc. They have a tough job in our area. Truly there are other more serious matters to pursue than cellphone violations. Is that an expensive fine?

Expensive enough -- try $105 to pay the fine and do traffic school so it stays off my insurance! The thing that really irritated me is that it was on speakerphone on the passenger seat. I'd reached a red light and picked up the phone to turn it off (I was on the phone getting a pep talk from my mom as I went to the surgeon for a stressful test). It was a bike cop at the corner -- he just leaned over and rapped on the window. I was LIVID!

Ticketed for using a cell phone in the car? You gotta get over to Bangkok and see people zipping through red lights, talking a mile a minute on their cell phones and singing karaoke to boot. LOL, and that's on a good day.

OOOOOh, $105 and T/school. I guess I'll have to do some serious thinking about all my cell calls from the car. I don't do well with cops when as you put it, I become livid. My last such incident nearly landed me in custody in an out of state accident when the officer kept up his arrogant attitude .Wouldn't you know it, I have a kid that wants to be one. He says he take me to jail as fast as any other; and he would. He's a stickler for upholding laws. Must take after his father, I prefer "bending" them.

Crikey! Busted even with speakerphone? Then I'd better be more careful. Yesterday I picked up the phone and dialed it (planning to use it on speakerphone) as I drove past the cop shop! I deserve the ticket, not you. Have fun at the ball game!
