And, how did you remedy his dilemma? Perhaps you took his pencil and sharpened it down to the eraser. Or did you break his pencil, and then tell him he now had two pencils, one more than daddy. As you can tell, I have excellent parenting skills.

No -- even worse, I said "I can't BELIEVE you just said that! Honestly, Jacob, no matter what we do for you, it's never enough! Who the heck compares pencil points to see which is sharper?"

However, I made up for it by making him laugh his head off a few minutes later. Over what, I can't remember. But it worked.
