07.26.04 (2:33 pm)   [edit]
I was catching up on blogs today and ran across a post by Pound , talking about the passing of the great Paula Danziger. That got me thinking about all the books I devoured as a pre-teen and teenager. Some of my favorites were:

Julian Thompson
The Grounding of Group Six

Paula Danziger
The Cat Ate My Gymsuit
There's a Bat in Bunk Five

Judy Blume
Deenie
Blubber
Forever
Starring Sally J. Freedman As Herself

Francine Pascal
(the original) Sweet Valley High series

Bette Green
Summer of My German Soldier

Lois Duncan
Stranger With My Face
Daughters of Eve

Catherine Sefton
In a Blue Velvet Dress

What books did you love?

hmmm... Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden mysteries, books like Chariots of the Gods, Louisa Mae Alcott books - Little Women, Little Men, Jo's Boys, etc.

Now I want to read them again :)

My parents gave me a Louisa May Alcott hardcover that has Little Women, Little Men, and Good Wives. I still have and reread that book every year. I can't believe I didn't even know Jo's Boys existed. I will hit the library tonight!

Jo's Boys picks up after Little Men, and Rose's Garden (?) is in the same vein... lovely story and until a couple months before she was born, Katie's middle name was going to be Rose. I changed it at the last minute, lord knows why.
