Okay, poll time. I need suggestions. Mother's Day and my 35th birthday are in May. DH is not one of those guys who can easily come up with gift ideas on his own, and I can only think of things that are practical (ie bookshelves and bed linens).

Other than a watch (I've worn the same one for 10 years), I can't think of anything else I'd like to have. Do you have any creative ideas for me? What are some of the things you've given or received that were special to you?

Earings (pearls, diamond), or other jewlery. How about a gift certificate to a spa or beauty salon. A manicure or pedicure gift certificate. A weekend alone with just you and he, stay in a fancy hotel and do nothing except the "wild thing" and have dinner served in your room!! Flowers, does he usually get you flowers, if not suggest he splurge!!

I second (at this point, "third") the idea of a "spa day." But it must include a massage and a facial. Heck, just the massage and facial did it for me.
I am not a big fan of jewels, but scented aromatherapy candles and lotions/bath oils are always a nice thing in my book. I am partial to the Victoria's Secret lotions that are a perfume in themselves, but many women find them too fragrant if you can imagine that. Speaking of Victoria's Secret, how about a nice silky nightgown? It doesn't have to be made in the honor of "let's get it on," just something pretty and silky and flowing that makes you feel good, inside and out.
Trekguy has a wonderful suggestion, too, in the hotel room for a night thing if you have suitable inlaws or friends to watch the kids. Following up on the flowers thing, my husband took me to a hotel for my last birthday and sprinkled rose petals all over the bed while I was in the bathroom - he saved the petals from the roses he bought a week before. So maybe he can buy the roses for one occasion and spread them on the bed for the next, perhaps while you are wearing your pretty silky nightgown? Eh, just a thought. I am pretty lucky in that department, my husband is a very thoughtful and creative person.
